Come Valentine day, February 14th, all roads will be leading to Millennium Jazz club in Mogoditshane for the annual Miss Millennium 2000 – a beauty pageant with a difference.
As is the norm, ladies the defining 40-year old mark will take to the stage to show what Mother Nature has given them, and how well they have kept God’s creations. This year, 10 ladies will be celebrating their beauty and feminity with a catwalk.
“The aim is to show the world the natural beauty of a woman. That even at 40 years we appreciate our looks,” pointed out the reigning queen, Phodiso Letsholo, 46, who honoured her last moments by donating food staff and clothes to the less privileged children of Mogoditshane last Sunday.
“As responsible parents, we meet and talk about our children's needs. That is why we like this pageant because it gives us the opportunity to raise funds and give to the community,” said the most beautiful lady to have stepped forward in 2009.
Her efforts did not go unnoticed. The councilor of Mogoditshane west, Michael Mathame thanked the outgoing Miss Millennium 2000 for her contribution to the community.
The Millennium Jazz club is in the heart of Mogoditshane in Kweneng District and it is a place where elders come for light drinks on Sundays. The village is very close to Gaborone making it part of the town. As such many children are facing difficulty due to challenges and poverty that comes with high life and inflations in town.
Letsholo worked with the social workers to identify the needy children who at the end left Millennium club with a temporary smile, which Letsholo says desperately, needs to be maintained.
