Gauthier attends Miss California orientation

Miss Blythe 2004 Sara Gauthier traveled to Fresno on the weekend of May 1-3 to participate in the annual local delegate orientation for the Miss California Pageant.
She participated in workshops addressing stage appearance, current events and interview techniques. Gauthier also performed a preliminary talent presentation for the pageant producers, in preparation for the upcoming Miss California Pageant to be held July 7 through July 10, 2004 at the William Saroyan Theater in Fresno.
 Gauthier was announced as an official delegate on Saturday morning May 2. Later she was introduced to Miss California 2003, Nicole LaMarche and president/CEO of the Miss California Organization, Bob Arnhym. These individuals met privately with Gauthier and the delegates to discuss the role and responsibilities of being Miss California.
Saturday evening she had the opportunity to meet the other 47 delegates, many of whom she had already met during her appearances at several local pageants throughout Southern California. Gauthier also had the opportunity to make plans with Miss Covina, Leslie Haro, who will be her roommate during her 10-day stay in Fresno.
On the final day of the orientation, additional information was disseminated to the delegates and their executive directors. The talent line-up was announced with Miss Blythe receiving a Thursday night talent performance at this year’s pageant. The program ended on a high note when Gauthier won a $500 cash award drawing held for the 12 delegates who had sold a minimum of three pages for the Miss California program book.
“Miss Blythe put her community on the map as she met other delegates and charmed pageant officials with her smile, talent and poise,” said pageant executive director Mickey Copple, who accompanied Gauthier to Fresno.
